The Devon Conservative Group call on Government to properly fund Devon schools

Each pupil in Devon received £290 less than the national average. Conservatives in Devon believe this is not right. The current/recent Government consultation is flawed and does not improve the situation. We therefore call on Government to increase the funding for the young people of Devon.

East Devon MP, Sir Hugo Swire, has welcomed the Government’s decision to plough an extra £2bn into the social care system.

East Devon’s MP, Sir Hugo Swire, has said he is ‘absolutely delighted’ that the Secretary of State for Education has agreed to contribute up to £750K towards the relocation of Tipton St John Primary School to Ottery St Mary.

East Devon MP Sir Hugo Swire has this week called on the Government to provide extra funding for social care in East Devon.

In the House of Commons on Tuesday, Sir Hugo quizzed Health Minister David Mowat on the subject, asking:

Sir Hugo launches new community minibus

MP Sir Hugo Swire officially launched a new community minibus secured by the Estuary League of Friends in Topsham earlier this week. 

Sir Hugo had previously supported the Estuary League of Friends' application to the Department for Transport for the minibus.

MP visits Exeter Science Park

Local MP Sir Hugo Swire, visited Exeter Science Park on Monday 14 November to see the new supercomputer building. Sir Hugo was instrumental in lobbying ministers for the new £97m supercomputer, which will be used by the Met Office to provide more accurate weather predictions.
