Alison Hernandez

Alison Hernandez was selected as the Conservative candidate in October 2015 and elected as the Police and Crime Commissioner in May 2016. Alison has a strong background working alongside the Police to promote Community Safety and cut crime. Alison's varied career includes working to tackle poverty in Plymouth, fighting crime in Torbay and across the South West Region from within Torbay and at the Home Office, to being a Business Consultant helping Housing Associations and the Transport Industry.

Alison is an award winning former elected Councillor and an activist in the business Community. Safety, First and Foremost is her mantra. This role will require tackling crime from many angles, not just from a police prospective. Understanding the needs and challenges of the rural, urban and coastal communities is vital. This will require strategic thinking and the ability to form strong partnerships and alliances.

Alison says, "I have spent years fighting crime and tackling poverty at the front line and at a strategic level and I look forward to campaigning and the challenges ahead"
